Peacocks are very dear to Krishna. His favourite head ornament is the peacock plume. One never sees Krishna without the decoration of the peacock feathers. Amongst the types of peacocks feathers that are offered to the Lord, the rare white peacock plumes are the most special.
Here on the walls, the peacocks are all dancing to woo the peahens, by spreading their feathers as a way of attracting them. These hand-painted peacocks are painted, using the single hair brush style of miniature art. There are also 2 peacocks made with concave mirror, traditionally known as “theekri” work. Pieces of delicate mirror are cut and then pasted directly on the wall.
