BASANT

The arrival of spring is the time to celebrate newness. A season that ushers in a new leaves on trees, beautiful, colourful flowers, a great pleasant weather and many festivals like Holi, Basant Panchami, Kunj ekadashi, etc. Here in this room, spring flowers that bloom at this time of the year, are hand painted on the walls.  Outside the large windows, the flower bed also have seasonal flowers blooming and a huge Pomegranate tree, which also symbolizes new birth and growth in many cultures.

The most important festival that falls during this time is Holi, the festival of colour. At the temple of Krishna at Nathdwara, this festival is celebrated for a period of forty days culminating on the last day called” Dolotsav” the festival of Holi is unique, unlike any other festival. The intensity of play increased each passing day until Holi or Dol. The feeling that a devotee has towards the lord at this time of Holi is that of a friend. The focus shifts of the Lord’s lotus feet to colouring his face or throwing colourful powder or flowers at him. This, I believe is the ultimate pinnacle of devotion, where you are not just a server, but friends with the lord.
